The course does not require preliminary knowledge of Azeri and serves as a course for beginner s. Rut it also offers refresher course for those w ho have learned a little Azeri. The main idea of the book is communicative approach to learning of essentials of Azeri. The course consists of short introduction to the Azerbaijani phonetics and fourteen units. Each unit, except unit 14 is devoted to specific topics on every day situations. The unit contains a list of words with translation into English.
Different forms of the same expression are given for developing communication skills. The basic material is presented in the form of dialogues and texts follow ed by various tasks. Short grammar section in each unit helps to understand structure of the language better and to express ideas of your own and contains only the most necessary information.
At the end of each unit there are vocabulary and communication summary.
The last unit 14 contains readings from written literature and folklore. It will make a student's first steps in reading easy and enjoyable.
This book is written by the teachers of Khazar University and was tested with the sludents in the classroom.
